Bill Clay is a composer, guitarist, music educator, and new music producer based in the Phoenix area. As a composer, Bill influences include Metal, Spectralism, and classic counterpoint. He is an active composer who loves to work on special projects with solo artists and groups such as Silent G, Oh my Ears, the Arizona Flute Society, the Harmony Project, and Opuntia Winds. He is a producer with Oh My Ears and the Tasting Notes new music series and has also produced two operas under the group name Arizona Chamber Opera.
Bill’s other passion is music education. He loves interacting with students of all ages and learning styles. He has taught music in classrooms from elementary to university level. Bill maintains a studio through Bill Clay Music and More LLC and offers private and group lessons (guitar, piano, theory, and composition), musical arrangements, ensemble coaching, and even cooking lessons. Bill also loves to speak at the college level on a variety of topics, including his pet research topic, Heavy Metal.
Bill lives in Tempe with his wife, five kids, guitars, pellet grill, several trees, and eight chickens. He loves the outdoors, especially hiking around the valley, keeping his backyard flora alive in the harsh desert environment, and beer, food and cooking. He is a member of Valley Guitar Duo and his published works are two articles in ABC-CLIO’s 100 Greatest Bands publication and a guitar score in SCI Journal of Musical scores Volume 42.
